tiny 3d printer by My N Mi

When it comes to 3D printers, bigger is usually better. Super-sized machines can now churn out everything from boats to houses. However, one Youtuber has gone in the opposite direction, creating an incredibly tiny 3D printer that looks like it was made for insects.

The user, who goes by the name My N Mi, uploaded a demonstration of the super tiny SLA 3D printer on his channel. According to the video, the printer measures 0.7 x 1.2 x 1.6 inches (18 x 31 x 41 mm) and weighs just 0.03 pounds (17 g). For reference, the printer is about the height of a matchstick and about as wide as a microSD card.

The unit’s small size is certainly impressive, but can it print? The answer is a resounding yes! In the video, My N Mi is seen adding tiny drops of resin to the printer’s reservoir. Shortly after, the build plate begins moving up and down as an LED light performs the printing process. A few minutes later, My N Mi takes out the print to reveal a surprisingly detailed 3D robot figure.

Besides its capabilities, not much is known about the miniature 3D printer. We do not know what parts they used, why they decided to build it, or their plans for the device. There also does not seem to be many practical uses for the printer just yet, but the fact that it exists is mind-blowing.
